Not rising to the bait as you obviously rated. I would have had top of my list January to offload January and as I posted .. his departure an early Christmas present. I would not have offered 1 year extension in summer. Rose more often awol and had nothing to offer midfield, i.e. passing, tackling, challenging or goal threat. He simply ran around pointing. I prefer the midfield options available now, knowing he is no longer here. Time will tell if missed but doubt it.

There's no way Rose should have been top of anyone's wish list to get rid of given some of the absolute dross we have...you really think he's worse than ATS, Sammon etc? Never in a million years.

However, he's also pretty limited and given our absolute surplus of midfielders, if he's one which can be shuffled along easily then we're not going to miss him. If anyone in February, after the next window closes, looks at our team/squad one game and says 'we really could have done with Andy Rose today' I will eat my metaphorical hat.

It's not 'bait' it's a genuine question, which I see you were unable to answer.

I didn't especially rate him, he was a fairly limited player ability wise but was capable of putting in a shift and doing the donkey work in the middle of the park, which he did on many occasions. In a squad littered with utter dross and below bog standard defensive midfielders, Andy Rose was probably the best of the bad lot.

According to press articles he had an escape clause in his contract to allow him to be released for nothing if an offer from the MLS came in. His green card expires next month, so he was always likely to leave then. So, in effect he only signed a 6 month contract.

While it hardly matters in the grand scheme of things, this must have been known at the time which makes the whole process somewhat bizarre. Summer is generally considered a better time for recruiting than winter, so why didn't we replace him - if Robinson insisted on needing a body for his beloved depth - then? I've got nothing against us using short-term contracts when they help but even allowing for Rose's injury limiting appearances this term, I just don't see what we got out of this.

Okay .. ATS, Sammon who you correctly point out worse than Rose but there appearance infrequent. Robinson selected Rose majority of time. I have him before/amongst names you mention .. 1st or 2nd irrelavent and on my list.

LSM asks who would I play ... Turnbull, Campbell, Gorrin, Grimshaw, Bigirimana, Cadden but NOT McHugh whom I’d only have for cover in defence as too slow and caught on ball to often. Frear to light and another to add my list to exit January. Surely those I name sufficient mid-field cover for season (?). I’m now done with this post. Merry Christmas

You'll only be done with this post when you've been released Das... probably in the January window 😁
