Sacked.. Oh dear!
Nolan's a shoe-in. Next step to the England job.
There's a betting opportunity on this one, for those who like an outside punt.
United have stated that Carrick will take charge for 2 weeks, then an external caretaker (Laurent Blanc?)for the rest of the season before a permanent appointment (Zidane?) in the summer. I wouldn't bet on any of that, but consider that as recently as 2012, Chelsea won the Champions League with a caretaker manager, Di Matteo after AVB was sacked.
The first CL game Blanc (odds on to be the caretaker role) would get would be PSG, his old club, giving the game an extra edge. 50/1 to win the whole competition for a club who has won it 3 times before with players let off the leash, I think it a value bet.
Man Utd in comparison to other teams in England and Europe are poor. The players may be let off the leash to attack, but the defence is dodgy as sin and will be exposed more. They might scrape 5th, they will certainly be out of the CL against PSG.
