    On this day in 76

    I Went to Stoke and saw this young lad score on his debut. If he played for a London club would have got 100 caps

    Absolute West Brom legend and one of the best English left backs ever. Very unlucky to be around at the same time as Kenny Samson and at a time when there were nowhere near the amount of internationals there are now.

    Even though Samson was pretty much a regular for England for best part of 10 years he still only played 86 times and according to Wiki is the second most capped ever English full back. There always was a basis against clubs like us and that definitely contributed as well but we know just how good he was. What a player.

    Saw his goal at Gillingham in the Cup. It was the one bit of quality in a dreadful performance.

    Best full back I have seen in a Baggies shirt by a long long way.
