Good point Exiled, also if we're not good enough to go up this season the best thing would be to clear out as much as is feasible in this & the next window whilst bringing through the likes of O'Hare. Looking at what's happened with teams that have gone down - most don't bounce back so gaining promotion is something of a lottery in this league.

I never quite understood how we could score 3 against decent teams, play well for 70 mins and still lose or draw under him. This only happened sometimes and the rest of the time it was terrible!

Apparently were after a 22 year old midfielder from Chelsea. You can see the route we're going. Top young talent that just can't get games or players from the lower league that also have potential. The common denominator in this is the age. Just old enough to throw in the first team but young enough to quickly improve. It might be a long proses but long term its good. In reality we have to go in for players at other clubs. We have a good youth system and benefiting from the likes of Grealish and Green but it's not enough.
Tottenham did good buisness not buying players over 23. The value often goes up until the player is 27/28.
Sadly doing it this way will probably write off the season. I hope all these players get thrown in the deep end and build a good young team.

Trouble is though Bong is that you become a selling club like Southampton who have pocketed massive fees, Fergie had it right with a nucleus of great young players and some good older heads. He managed the ins & outs pretty well for the most part too.
