Thread: Q&A from new owner

  1. #11
Good questions with good open answers. Will leave those with more knowledge and experience of United/Scottish football to get on with the job rather than interfere, I like that one especially. Puts my mind at rest a bit about his personal intentions and expectations from purchasing us.

I certainly sit a little easier after reading it.

Bt as someone already mentioned his intentions to make money from the club is a wee bit of a heavectatcher. Unless our youth system starts to produce a converabelt of talent in the nxt 4/5 yrs can’t see how he is going to achieve this.

That said he does seem to have his head screwed on and appears to have carried out his due diligence so think it will be a wait and see scenario.

It's possible for the club to make a profit without selling players. However, in my opinion, this would rely on signing very good players all the time. Difficult.

I think that, ultimately, the only way our club can do anything better than 'break even' is to have a top class youth development programme that produces players that can establish themselves in the 1st team, give us a couple of seasons, and then be sold on for a healthy profit.

But, it's gonna have to be a good programme to produce the number of players required.

It's interesting they paid residual debt. I wonder what the figure stands at these days.

Yeah - that had me wondering too. What is 'residual debt'? Any accountants out there that can explain what that means?

I'm no accountant but to me it means any loans with security against the clubs assets .

Great shout, a guy who was here for over 6 years and was excellent as both assistant to Levein then as manager, knows exactly what the club is about and what is expected, the identity of the club and the recent history when we were one of the countries top clubs over the last decade, and knows Neilson

You know, he would be sensible choice, he's pretty well connected and respected in the game.
