yep jr has it spot on ,and we have been really unlucky over the years when it comes to signing these journey men ,kerr ,baird and now harkins ,im seeing a clear picture with signing these sorts ,good players but hard to manage and keep happy ,dobbie could be classed as a journey man but he comes across as having a top attitude to the game an allround nice guy a rare commodity amongst the journey man players ,our current manager has at least stuck around ,he just needs to tweek his tactics here and there cause we have a team here who can play .
Negative,,,,yes. Clueless...No. the manager has us fighting for a play off spot with the smallest of resources. If Harkins was such a bad person at every other club then why did queens sign him and ump**** of us celebrate his signing. Baird Kerr and now Harkins. Try adding Robison, Rooney, Stirling, although he somehow survived, marshal left cos he wasn't too happy, and that just off the top of my head.
And how many of those would dare to offend an opinion or critism.
Dobbie is the only experienced player in the side ,to whom Nayidea wouldn't dare say a word to.
As far as getting into a play off place is concerned, he's brought in many players of which non have made any improvement whatsoever, stop kidding yourself the team / club are merely surviving, for how long I'm not sure
Its not the squad which is the problem it's the way it's being utilised well below it's potential.
Imo the weak point is right back and question marks over the keeper.
As a collective of players, imo we don't have any passengers, we just need slightly bolstering and the manager to be more attack minded which we were at the start of the season but for some reason he thinks a draw every game is a good result.
The experienced player thing is a load of rubbish. If you'd a said young local players then you would have had a point. He's got shot of most of the local up and comings.
On the subject of Queens small squad, I reckon some loan signings in January are key as well as the return of Brownlie (if Semple returns to Sheff Utd) With this in mind I would have Brownlie and Fordyce as centre backs and move Doyle to right back.
What has Harkins leaving got to do with attracting fans?
So called fans should be following their team whether players fall out with the manager or not.
We have 700 fans that follow us come what may and another 1000 that come when they fancy it or have nothing else on. As good an away support as any others in this league.
Shows a sign of disarray as I said when fans are already turning their backs on the club. Might not be our fault but it's not a good advertisement.
Iirc We were getting 1500/ 1600 home fans in the Johnston years which has slowly declined.
Even though on paper we are doing ok a lot of folk are fed up with Naysmith, just a fact.
Mug, as well you know it, people pay to watch good players and characters. Thus people will still pay to listen to Gazza.
Just because there's a squad of decent minded people does not maketh people come out to watch them, - and another thing, even the hard core will not keep coming if there's nothing special to watch.
Like him or loath him, - Harkins was capable of doing something a wee bit different, - and I will definitely miss those little bursts of skill.
That being said, - if he had a disruptive influence on the rest of the squad,- then sadly the manager had no alternative but to let him go, - provided of course that he (the manager) was not the catalyst.
