    Villa v Swans

Now that the disastrous game at Hull is erased from the memory, well partly anyway, attention turns to Aston Villa, our next match.
At least we won’t have to travel far for this one, but the problem is Villa are in fine form since switching managers, whereas we’ve won only twice in the last six games and lost the other four.
We had a strong defence beginning of the season but lately we’re conceding for fun. I don’t know what’s gone wrong but zonal marking is certainly not working for us.
Nobody can predict a football result with certainty but Villa look odds on to win this one.
I look forward to eating humble pie if we win!

Evening - our lot can score goals but defensively we're poor and we're missing the influence of Jack Grealish who really helps us dominate play. We have a side that will battle when the chips are down, this one could go either way as was the case when you came to Villa Park.

    Merry Christmas all.
Hi westcountryvillain. Jack Grealish is a fine player and any team would miss him.
For us, we are missing players too, the 16 players moved on for peanuts in a fire sale after relegation, just to get them off the wage bill. They were replaced by players from our Academy and cheap inferior players brought in to make up the numbers.
We have done surprisingly well considering, as we followed the same clear out of players as Sunderland did when they got relegated the season before. They went straight through the Championship to League 1 and are only now recovering.
Our American owners haven’t invested a penny since buying the club and having got us relegated through their mismanagement, they are now looking to recover their money by any means possible before running away.
You say the match could go either way, but I am pessimistic after our poor run of form lately and can’t see us getting anything.

Sorry guys the thread title is wrong. Of course it should be Swans v Villa, and it’s on today, Boxing Day.
Unfortunately you cannot edit a post on this site after 15 mins and you cannot edit the title at all, strange rules.

Well what a shambles that was.
Dominated play first half, couldn’t score, same old story. Villa sit back, bide their time, and let us play our pretty, but non productive football.
Second half we’re under the cosh, Villa wake up and score a goal, inevitably from a cross into the box.
We get an unlikely lifeline, a late penalty, as Dyer is brought down in the box.
Bony snatches the ball off McBurnie, who is our designated penalty taker. Bony gives goalkeeper a chance as he always hits his penalties to the left, and his weak shot is saved, game over.
