    Return of the Mac

Seems Rossco will be with us for the remainder of the season. Thoughts?

Was utterly dismissed in our group last night but he was at the game today so no smoke without fire.

However, 32 is no longer that past it given modern advances and for us to get a player of his (potential) ability while still on the contract he has with Villa, there is likely an attitude or a health/fitness problem somewhere. Or both.

In short, if something seems too good to be true, then it probably is...so I'll wait not only till he's signed but I've seen him run around a bit before getting excited.

I suspect he'll be no worse than Bowman...

    Here he was in 2007...

Aye, fair point. After I said he hadn't missed many bbq's down under, someone else added he'd never been the guy to turn down second helpings.

And even if he only rolls around the central circle, he probably has more actual football talent than the rest of the squad combined.

Some gems from the Central Coast Mariners board:

"We also don't have anybody who can feed McCormack. Without that player, McCormack will remain as our worst signing of the year."

To which some wit replied: "I think the last thing McCormack needs is someone else to feed him."

And they add he is "Getting his divorce finalised and spending Christmas at home with his kids according to Villa message boards."

If he's had personal issues it maybe explains some stuff...but still, he essentially signed a four-year deal with Villa in 2016 then barely kicked a ball for them. Struggled on loan at Forest and the Mariners but was brilliant at Sydney in between. Before Villa, however, he was virtually a guarantee of goals in the Championship.

Robinson had a crack at getting Ciftci back on the straight and narrow and while he largely failed, it was hardly the total disaster we were afraid of. This - assuming we're only paying a fraction of his wages - surely falls into the 'worth a punt' category but I'm not holding my breath on it turning out well.

If affordable, worth a punt for the rest of the season. The pace will have gone a bit, but he's a good player with football nous; I think he could do a job for us.

I'd heard before yesterday's game from a usually reliable source that there was some substance to this rumour. Rossco will still have pace to burn but maybe not for 90 minutes.

My only concerns are he is injury prone and is thought to have a knee problem. My other concern is what sort of message does this putout to our young players when we have to go and sign a 32 year old

It'll be for a 6 month loan to tide us over until the summer. We really are short of firepower up front. If the young lads are good enough they'll get their chance ie Campbell, Turnbull, Maguire and now Livingstone.

Could be a disaster ... or a wonder move for us. What we need to make sure is we don't put him up in a gaffe with electric gates on the driveway - apparently if those gates pack in due to a power outage he just turns around and goes back to bed!
That shouldnae be an issue if we stick him in The Bentley all the same.
