It's strange how there is no mention in the club news of Semple returning with us assuming the club has acted quickly with McGuure as the replacement.

Brownlie will be miles off the pace when he returns. Something we could do without

He has certainly done that , which hopefully Sheffield Utd have seen and maybe push some other players our way.

He has been excellent for such a young Centre Back. Very calm and comfortable on the ball. Wins almost every header he goes for and has never been bullied by any opposition centre forward.

Pleased we have acted so quickly in getting a replacement......
That's a good point Mug. Sheffield United, a big side, will have a massive squad compared to ours and because the amount of competitive games Semple has had, might be inclined to send us more. This could depend on how long Naysmith / Anderson are with us as I'm sure it will be because of their contacts that Calum arrived in the first place.

Definitely but Brownlie would only be needed as cover if we played Fordyce and Doyle at centre half thus leaving McGuure as a bit of a pointless signing.
Natural right back wouldn't go a miss but imo now that we have Low, top priority has to be another striker.
Gavin Reilly on loan would be a awesome pairing with Dobbie.

McGuire at centre back would allow us to play a natural right back (Doyle). i fail to see why his signing is pointless

Why would you assume Doyle will play right back?.

He has hardly played there even though we have had Semple.

He`d be even less likely to have done so if we didn`t have 2 other centre halfs. We`ve already got 2 right backs. I`m trying to make the point that signing another one is far from a priority given our threadbare squad.

Doyle isn't a natural right back and has more than proved himself at centre half. Can't see Mercer being dropped as Naysmith seems to rate him.

If Semple is staying he's not going to be impoving central defense and means we'll just have a extra defender warming the bench for no reason unless the plan is two central defenders in midfield lol

That’s Callum Semples loan deal officially over so McGuire must be his instant replacement
