It wasn't Williams' or G.Gardner's fault though was it when they were both continually played together in the same defensive midfield, by a clueless manager/coach.
Maybe if you asked them both, they might say they didn't exactly like or agree with it.
The question here is this.
You get 2 mil for Potts and you buy Williams for 1 mill.
Is Williams a better footballer now than Potts or will he progress past Potts in time?
The consensus here seems to say no, this is not a forward step but the owners bag a million. This appears to be the model, is it really in the clubs interest from a football point of view? Or is it of benefit to the fans?
Answer - No.
How long are the fans going to accept this?
Totally agree Animal.
Its this treadmill we are on of making progress towards a settled and successful team only to see the personnel sold and the funds not reinvested in better players. Its always a lets try this or that undeveloped player and hope we make another profit when we sell them. We don't keep them long enough for the team to achieve sustainable success.
Our club has had a long history of developing a team enjoying short term success ie Clarke, Hunter, Wilson, Bassett, Hecky then seeing the team broken up via player sales. Now we don't even wait for a team to fully develop before we start selling. The fans just arent going to stand for this. You can feel the unrest welling up.
It's that hollow feeling like I had in 2016. Even though the team was having cracking results you knew come january half of it was out of contract and would be off.
It's no different this season. We start to hit form and within striking distance of the top two, players are under contract this time and we're selling them for a pittance.
Granted it's just one player thus far. However, Moore, Lindsay and Pinnock are being watched by Championship clubs and were assured that they weren't sold in the summer to mount a promotion challenge.
What message are the board showing the players that stayed during the summer by selling Potts so early in the window?
The one true analysis will come when the season ends and we find out which division we will play next season .
Not only that but if we do fail , why and how did we fail ?
For instance losing a penalty shootout in the play off final is a totally different thing to slipping away and not making the top 6 at all .
When all 46 or even 49 games are played then that offers the true picture .
You also have to bear in mind that many supporters will stand by the club come what may and it could and will divide the support .
People still turn up at Blackpool games despite Oyston and his shenanigans let's not forget .
Aaron Pierre northampton centre half interest from several league 1 teams/, dont know if we are one
Aaron Myc0ck, the up and coming Brazilian, probably a better bet.
