Really sad that he has had to announce his retirement. His video announcing it would bring a 'tear to a glass eye'. Hope he gets his wish to be able to bow out at Wimbledon and get the send off he deserves. IMO Scotlands best ever sportsman. It won't be the same watching tennis any more and I probably won't. Thanks for the memories.
Fantastic sportsman. Probably the greatest Scot of all time.
Shame he didn’t win more grand slams as he probably deserved to. Unfortunate he was in era with 3 other all time greats.
An example to all. I think he should stop now and focus on his long term health for him and his family
a miserable *******
I knew that was coming!
Gutted as followed his career for years, but kind of knew it was over for him after his reaction to beating marius copil last year, someone he would dispatch half arsed if injury free, he had to give it everything to eek out the win, it brought him to tears as in his heart he knew he'd never get back to where he wanted, such an unlucky player too Murray, not only in the era of the three best ever, when he did reach his peak in 2011-2013 and won a couple grand slams the back injury cut it short and ended up having surgery, took him to near the end of 2015 to get back to his best where djokovic was peaking then his second peak in 2016 where he won 9 titles to get to number 1 and defeat djokovic in the last match of the year to get it, djokovic mentally went away for the next year but Murrays hip flares up so can't take advantage of it and its a career ender in the end
An all time great career, a factor in the discussion of top ten of all time, as what he did in this era is amazing given his peers, any other era he'd have 10 grand slams at a minimum
Such a shame at 31, had he avoided this hip injury then he had many more years in the top of tennis and many more big tournaments in him, what a player, intelligent, tactical, fast, strong, heart, determination and will, if half the footballers in this country had a fraction of what Murray has this country would be producing more than just an Andy Robertson
Also find him to be a good guy with a good sense of humour, if not a bit monotone in his voice and awkward on camera
One of if not Scotlands (and Britain's) greatest sportsman and been a pleasure to watch his career
A true Scottish legend!
Watching Wimbledon will just not be the same....all the best Andy you done us proud
Currently 2-2 sets each in the aussie open first round against bautista agut (who is in great form having beat djokovic and wawrinka last week), lost the first two sets and struggling, has fought like fk to win the next two via tie breaks, aussie crowd going wild that he even won a set
Some boy like, heart and determination in abundance
