No idea what Lampard is trying to do

    An incoherent mess imo

    6th on sufference

Cant defend, cant stop crosses coming in, cant pass, cant press, hoof ballin it to a 5ft3inch midget whos strength is running in behind ffs

Waghorn is never played alongside Marriott despite him needing a good target man to feed off

Tinkering game after game, and that is with shape and tactics as well as players

    Bryson.... say no more

You may be right although I wouldn’t single out Bryson - both fullbacks were out of their depth, I forgot Mount and Evans were playing, Lawrence was just flailing at the ball like a politician would. Some of the challenges were so half hearted they were dangerous to those making them, we looked doomed from minute 1. I feel bad for Holmes who was the only one to really impress, and for the fans that made the trip. Jesus wept.

I have to say that, watching FL on the touchline, he looked like someone who had suddenly realised that he was having his first driving lesson in commuter traffic and nobody had told him that other drivers on the road hate learners!
    That is a worry......!!

If anything the tinkering is the most concerning thing

30+ games in and he doesnt know hjs best 11, 433 simply isnt going to work, not with Marriott as the main striker, and certainly not with Lawrence and Wilson as the two alongside him, no decent DM either, fullbacks that cant cross or beat their man. Mount and Bryson are lightweight and neither are that good at passing or showing for the ball.

We either drop it and go 4231 or 442 or we carry on looking toothless, we only ever look like scoring from free kicks ffs, and people think lampard is this footballing genius? A fkrmer central midfielder that sort out a midfield its bizarre

Can’t argue with any of that Andy...or, for once, with too much of what DCFCA says.
Last night was dreadful and, as you say, the writing was on the wall from minute 1 by which time we should have been 1-0 down.

Not arrogant enough to suppose that I, or any of us, know as much as Lampard. He’s forgotten more about football than any of us have ever known, but his inflexibility in terms of formation coupled with his readiness to continually tinker with the personnel is a puzzle.

Talk of ditching Lampard...for Jokanovic or Karanka...is, imo, nonsense, but I don’t understand why he won’t change the system and fails to recognise Marriott’s increasing frustration at playing the lone striker role...complete waste of our best signing for years, again imo.

I thought Holmes was the only player worth paying last night. Bryson I thought kept at it and put a shift in but produced nothing. Mount and Evans were, as you suggest, invisible but the most worrying thing is what is going on with the likes of Carson, Wisdom, Tomori and Lowe?
Carson was at fault for both goals, Lowe maybe struggled to adapt from the comparative cakewalk that is Scottish football to a packed Elland Road on a Friday night, but Wisdom used to be good and looked clueless last night while Tomori, who up until Christmas was a candidate for player of the year, seems to have completely lost his composure and passing ability.

On the plus side...we’re still sixth and will be tonight whatever happens...but the inescapable fact is...we’re currently not good enough. Two or three signings and a bit of luck with injuries away from challenging for the play offs imo and the most we can hope for is a disappointing repeat of last season.

P.S. One of the attractions of appointing Lampard was the contacts he allegedly brought with him. Given our apparent ‘poverty’ it’d be a very good time to see some of those contacts leading to some useful loans.

    My viewpoint.

The full backs don't stop crosses because FL has them 30 yards in from the touchline while the winger is on the touchline. No way in hell can they stop crosses from there.

Lowe had the added problem yesterday of having Clarke to mark. That 18 year old has a maturity well above his years. For their first he didn't even look up. Kept his eye on the ball and put it into the danger area knowing that, more often than not, Roofe would be there or thereabouts.

We were 2nd to every ball, be that 1st, 2nd, 3rd or whatever phase of play. That was bad.

We stuck with our zonal defence and it worked yet again. No goal against from a zone. However, our marking of the zones meant their players had acres of space and no challenges from a Derby player. Their man in possession had 2 or 3 men in open space to play the ball to and they did. The receiver then also had a wide choice as to whom he was going to pass the ball.

Conversely, when one of ours received the ball he immediately had between 1 and 4 of theirs on his case and lost out. When we did get the ball under control, there was no outlet due to a lack of off the ball movement and their marking of players rather zones.

Fortunately we only have 1 more game against a top 6 side so, if we don't make the playoffs, it will be 100% down to us.

The ref made a lot of mistakes and errors of judgment but, in his defence, he wasn't biased. Just incompetent.

In short, don't bring the full backs in so far and we will see an immediate improvement defensively. More movement off the ball and we will be more of an attacking threat. Stop marking zones and start marking players, especially in the last 30 yards.

No idea how Lampard wants them to play tbh

It just show what a competant manager can do with the players at his disposal

Bielsa has taken the same bunch of players from mid-table to a premiership side in 6 months

Lampard hasn't a clue what he's doing imo, literally pics his formation, system and players from a hat the day before the game it seems.

Waghorn.... has he been caught with pictures of Christine on his phone ? How is it possible for him to have a decent game and then get dropped, only to then see Bryson picked game after game, I'd be handing in a transfer request tbh

433 wont work with Marriot in the "martin role" sorry, if 433 is to implemented he needs to sign a proper DM and get Waghorn up top, with decent full backs, and a ball playing CD.... we haven't got any of them and so playing 433 is totally pointless. It does speak volumes that despite having a totally clueless man at the helm we are still 6th on 43 points, get someone who knows what he's doing in and we could promotion material.

    Carson
    NewFB Tomori NewCB New FB
    New DM
    Mount New Midfielder
    New Winger Wilson
    Waghorn

If he wants to carry on with the 433 system we probably need 5 new signings that can play and fit into the system with the players we have

    Otherwise it needs to be
    Carson
    Bogle Tomori Keogh Malone
    Huddleston Evans
    Wilson Mount Waghorn
    Marriott

4231 or 442 is the only way to go, 442 is Huddleston and Evans doesn't work

We simply don't have the players capable of implamenting a 433

headless chicken full backs, a headless chicken Keogh

No mobile defensive midfielder who can break up play and shield the back 4,, wingers that aren't interchangeable and wont track back, two young central midfielders that aren't yet savvy enough and both are lightweight and easily bypassed, and one of them can't pass ffs

And 5ft midget up top who is being asked to hassle and hold the ball up with no one coming in to support.... ffs
