I would rather have the worst crowd whilst at the top of the division than the best crowd whilst at the bottom of the division !

To be fair neither did we for the Huddersfield game in April 2002, which we thought might be the end, and we got 15,618 for that one. Who else remembers that magic goal from Kevin Nicholson?

Howard Webb was the referee for that game! With 10 games to play we were 7 points from safety. The victory over Huddersfield was our 5th home win on the bounce. It wasn’t the bottom tier though, it was Division 2 which is now League 1.

Indeed. Some distinct similarities to our current predicament though...

"Predictably enough, after Notts finished eighth in 2000.01, optimism was uncharacteristically high, but Maggies’ fans were brought to Earth with a bump after Jocky Scott’s team suffered a chastening 2-4 opening day defeat at Port Vale, thus setting the tone for what was to follow during the 2001.02 campaign."

"At that stage County had 23 points from 25 games, but, after a winning ‘debut’ at Cambridge, Dearden’s reign continued in disastrous fashion as six defeats followed to leave Notts in 23rd spot with 26 points from 32 games. What’s more, things got no better for Billy as four more games yielded two paltry points
    "

Of course we survived that one against the odds after having just 28 points from 36 matches,..... here's hoping!

Were they charging £2 a pop?

No, but then again it was a crucial last day of the season game. To compare like-for-like, for a home game they played against Hereford United in January their attendance was 1,961.

Well if we are still bottom by the time we play Grimsby for our last home game and we have something to play for I'd imagine we could come close to the Burnley attendance. Grimsby is not too far away either so they might bring more away fans than would be typical.
