    The Bradford Fire

was on BT sport straight after the match

not sure if there is a specific reason for showing it tonight?

still as horrifying seeing it now, as it was all those years ago, whole families decimated in the matter of minutes.

hearing people who were absolutely heroic on that day, saying how over the years it has eaten away at them.. questioning whether they could have done more.

It’ll be put on as a side show and build up for Hillsborough as it’s 30 years this year. It has never got anywhere near the publicity it should have. Very little was made of it in 2015 for 30 years. I understand why Hillsborough does because of the Police/possible criminal stuff but Bradford was just as tragic.

Reason for that most probably was that the senior police officer in charge, David Duckenfield has just gone on trial for his alleged blame in the matter.

The television news that night showed a completely different picture to what I had in my mind.

Some incredible acts of bravery that day, the sight of that Policeman who had been trying to save people, walking onto the pitch in flames, will live with me always.

    RIP.

Shocking tragedy made all the worse by the fact that it was entirely avoidable.

Those images are the stuff of nightmares.
