    Points required to stay up

If everybody was to maintain their current average pts per game, we're currently looking at 3rd bottom finishing with 46 points,

Points of the League Two team relegated in 23rd place since 2005.......

    2017/18 - 46
    2016/17 - 46
    2015/16 - 34 (team in 22nd finished with 43 pts)
    2014/15 - 41
    2013/14 - 50
    2012/13 - 51
    2011/12 - 44
    2010/11 - 47
    2009/10 - 44
2008/09 - 37 (would have been 41 without pts deductions)
    2007/08 - 42
2006/07 - 36 (would have been 46 without pts deductions)
    2005/06 - 49
2004/05 - 38 (would have been 40 without pts deductions)

So I think Notts would have to be looking at 47 to have a reasonably decent chance, so we'd need 26 more points from 18 games, that's an average of 1.44 points per game, with which over the course of a full season you'd end up with 66 points, top half form.

    Great post - well researched. Let's hope it's a 15/16 season rather than a 12/13.

I'm hoping that there's a couple of teams who are still yet to hit a really bad patch of form, which will bring them into the fold - Crawley for example. The more teams in it, the better chance we have. However, it's all academic if we don't start picking up some points fast.

Me too, but my main concern is that we'll be one of them.

We've not left ourselves much scope to hit a worse patch of form than we're currently on, so god help us if we do!

The worrying thing this time around is that all the six pointers we seem to end up losing, so now for each match our rivals win we need to win two just to close the gap. Its also a bit ironic that since his arrival at Macclesfield Mr. Campbell seems to be getting them slowly but surely towards a degree of safety. The main problem with the current Notts squad is there seems to be no fighters and players who can mix it. Oh for two or three players like Brian Stubbs, not pretty but physical and at least 100% effort every game.

I misread the thread title as "PINTS required to stay up" . . .
On second thoughts that might be worth considering:

1 PINT - "We probably need to get 50-51 points to be sure"
    3 PINTS - "Maybe 48 will do"
5 PINTS - "I reckon 45 will keep us up"
7 PINTS - "Nah, 42 was enough in 2015, can't see us needing more than that"
    10 PINTS - "We'll be fine . . ."
    12 PINTS - "Who gives a feck, it's only a game"
15 PINTS - "You're my best mate you are"

46/7 points would seem about right. From how we've been playing it looks too much of an ask.
To get the best out of Dennis, Hemmings and Boudwijn who are our most likely route to scoring enough goals we're going to have to get a target man in, a fit mobile Ameobi replacement basically or I think it's curtains.
