If Benitez signs a new contract after all that's been said and done and promised .. Would he go down in your estimation?

Keeps us up and with no change in the status quo from Ashley, he walks away a legend.

Keeps us up, signs a new deal with no change in the status quo, then for me he shows he is buying into Ashley and gives two fingers to the fans - or shows he is just a mercenary. Either not good.

Well he has never said he would walk. That's speculation on behalf of fans, pundits and media. I would be very surprised if he did stay, though depends on what MA offers him in remuneration re £5m per year!

If he did stay and nothing changed then I think that fans would be more critical of him re any poor performances based on his tactics. I would certainly have a more jaundiced view.

That said nowt surprising me anymore at the Toon!!

For all we know he might have already bought in to it,he might see it as a challenge.Plus £5m a year is not to be sniffed at.As you say we can only speculate as we are only fed scraps of media speculation anyway.
