    Swansea v Gillingham

It’s FA Cup Fourth Round this Saturday as we welcome League One Gillingham to the Liberty.
They knocked out PL Cardiff in the last round and will be up for this game and looking to cause another upset.
Their manager is Swansea born and bred Steve Lovell, he was hoping the Gills would draw the Swans and he got his wish.
Last round the Swans had an emphatic 0-3 win at Aston Villa, fielding a strong team.
This round, with the re-arranged league game against Birmingham just three days later, it’s a selection dilemma for Potter as he may want to rest some of the first team.
Due to Rodon’s injury last match we are short of cover in central defence.
Carter-Vickers came on as sub in that match to replace Rodon as the only other senior centre back.
Cian Harries from the under 23’s will now have to be utilised as cover in this position, as I cannot see any movement in the transfer market with no funds available.
The American owners have steadfastly refused to invest any of their money in the club since they took over.
One wonders what they are doing here in the first place, other than to milk the club dry of course, recover their purchase outlay with profit, and then dump us when the parachute payments dry up.

Some injury problems for the Swans. Routledge who was subbed at half time during the 1-0 win over Sheffield United with a calf strain, will not be risked. Nathan Dyer and Joel Asoro have the sickness bug that’s been going around the players, and Kyle Naughton has a knee injury and is doubtful. Rodon and Olsson both out injured long term. That’s six first team players out by the look of it.
The good news Bony and Carroll are both fit, but Carroll hasn’t played a league match for a few months and will Bony be risked if he’s leaving. That’s possibly eight players missing.

Gillingham could recall defender Max Ehmer to replace Alex Lacey, who had an ankle injury last week.

Well all of the above Swans players were missing as we took the field in swirling wind and rain.
A touching gesture of a minutes applause by fans for missing footballer Emiliano Sala with his photo up on the big screens, the club badges of Cardiff, Nantes, and Swansea, and the message “In our thoughts”
Four changes from last week’s win over Sheff U but we continued where we left off and dominated play first half with a brace from McBurnie.
Gills made a fight back beginning of the second half and poor marking led to Byrne crossing for Rees to head in. After a few shaky minutes Swans rallied and scored a further two goals through a rocket from Celina and a James cross bundled in by McKay.

Bony not selected yesterday because they didn’t want to risk him being injured amid transfer speculation, according to Potter when asked post match.
They have to get him off the books this transfer window, his massive salary of over 100k per week is draining resources.

A good turn out of over 15k hardy souls braved the bad weather yesterday, including lots of kids, the future of the club, taking advantage of the reduced prices.
This latest win takes us to six matches undefeated, with 7 goals in the last two cup games.

Good win yesterday and we’re in the draw for the next round tomorrow night at 7pm live on the BBC’s One Show.

They are desperate to get Bony and Narsingh off the books. Bony on crazy wages and Narsingh not playable as another league game would trigger a substantial payment to PSV for number of appearances. Narsingh has played 31 games for the Swans and scored 2 goals since 2017. Bony has played 22 times and scored 3 goals since 2017, before and after injury. Both a waste of space and another example of poor decisions made by HJ and the Board that are still hurting the club very badly.
