Forgive my ignorance of such matters, but is that a lot? The only thing I know about HP is that I used to prefer their sauce before they changed the recipe about 10 years ago

For a 1.6 litre that's mind bending when considering a road car might only have 150. They've apparently found significant gains in their ERS which has taken them well over the 1000hp mark, my internal source says they are getting nearly 200hp from the electric motor alone

OK, as neither a car fanatic nor even a driver I don't really think I understand most of that, but I guess its good news if you are a German. In layman's terms will it make it go faster than the nasty red ones?

That's the idea. Whether it works is anybody's guess. Will they be able to keep it on the track at higher speed?

1000bhp is a lot for 1.6 litres BUT (stenson may disagree or not remember), the 1000bhp in the back of, say, the the Brabham BT53 maybe 35 years ago was WAY more impressive, and that engine was GENUINELY road car based, the blocks came out of old BMW 1502s

No Brabham abandoned Ford/Cosworth DFVs with the BT49 in favour of the BT50 a couple of years before. They went from not qualifying in Detroit to winning in Canada in the space of a week, after they changed.

Boring enough for you yet GP? The mention of F1 gets me going a bit like mentioning black to the painter on The Fast Show
