    Gomis signs

Notts County have completed the loan signing of Virgil Gomis from Nottingham Forest.

The 19-year-old striker has been in fine scoring form for the Reds' Under 23s team this season and has also spent time on loan at National League outfit Braintree, scoring once in his five appearances during his month there.

Manager Neal Ardley says the forward has one of the key attributes he'd been looking for.

"We wanted to add pace to our attack," he said. "That was one of our main objectives.

"Normally you find that in a younger player, and we've got it from both ends of the spectrum with Virgil and Craig Mackail-Smith.

"We've watched him play in various games to get a feel for the way he moves and how he would fit into our style and what we're trying to do.

"Virgil's main strength is to penetrate and run off the back of teams, which will free up other players to do their stuff."

The Frenchman, who'll wear Notts' number 10 shirt, scored a hat-trick for Forest’s Under 23s in his most recent appearance as they beat Exeter 5-0 in the Premier League Cup on 21 January.

And he'll be hoping to be involved when the Magpies host Lincoln City at Meadow Lane on Saturday.

Happy with this... our record of Florist loans in the past 2 years has been somewhat excellent... lets hope he has the impact both Yates and especially Grant had.

Agreed! Can’t argue with the quality in their youth set up. Saw him in their cup game v Burton and he definitely looked a handful. Happy with this!

I'm sure leaving it to the managers to speak rather then getting involved himself has helped

Time to stop badmouthing the team across the water. They have turned up for Notts when it mattered. This one could be THE crucial signing.

Bollux"" Bad mouthing the team across the water always has been & always will part of being a Notts fan, I am glad about the signing & hope the lad does well but I feel certain the deal suited all 3 parties or it wouldn't have happened.
