There's no doubt McGeoch is a good footballer.
The ONLY, but fairly important issue, is his injury record - which is poor.
I'd say we'd need two centre midfielders signed.
a trio of Ferguson, McGeoch & A N Other with the potential in Dean Campbell would be good.

Maybe that's wishful thinking.

There will be clubs in England happy to take a punt on him and pay £8k per week or whatever.
Blackburn for example.
Mowbray is manager there and would remember him from Celtic days maybe?

I'd be happy with Ball and Campbell as 4th and 5th pick in there.

Reading in the Sunderland local paper that McGeough only signed a one yr deal with the Black Cats last summer, so is available free on June 30th.
