    Opposition players you've applauded

Well, it is a sport, after all.

I'm generally all for giving the opposition players a hard time but, every now and again, there are times when you just have to go 'aye, that's class'.

I remember Steven Gerrard getting a standing ovation from large parts of the ground when he was subbed after orchestrating our complete dismantling at our place a few years back (possibly the one where Shay legged it off the pitch at the end?)

Vardy was given a big ovation , too, after he broke the Premier League consecutive scoring record. Remember him looking round as he was walking back after scoring and you could tell he thought 'hang on, are they applauding me?'

David Kelly-when he came on for the village of the damned as a sub. Can't have been many times that's happened.

Any that particularly come to mind?

Only remember the sarcastic standing ovations for players having mares being subbed.

Jimmy Greaves in our away game at White Hart Lane in the late sixties. We were playing well and holding them 1-1 late in the game when Greavesy picked the ball up on the touchline on the right took it down to the corner flag and cut in dribbling around four of our defenders. He was about 10 yards from goal and about a yard in from the goal line, everyone expecting a cross or lob into the goal area but he squeezed the ball between Iam McFaul and the post, barely the width of the ball for a gap but it went in giving them the win at 2-1.

The whole ground home and away rose in the applause. I was devastated when at one period near the end we looked like taking it but you couldn't deny a bit of complete skill and finishing like that.

Vinnie Jones after he was such a good sport when he ended up in nets as we put six past Wimbledon.
