Yeah that would be better then it works out as 46 points, a point a game and we could all go home relax and have a great summer.

10 points from 18 is more top ten form as opposed to our current mid table form so if it would need us to push and be better than we’ve been since January.

    1.) P6, W3, D1, L2 = 10 points

Basically we need to win half our remaining games or lose no more than two more games to more or less guarantee survival.

4 Wins would pish it, 3 and a draw may well do but 2 and a few draws may be enough dependant on other results

Points needed threads are pointless really (no pun intended) especially this season. To say we need xx points when it is so close and those around us also need xx points is assuming that the others are going to lose their remaining games. It ain't over until it's over.

It will all be irrelevant if we win the next 6 games.....

It’s about trying to paint a picture and a bit of fun as well. Like trying to solve a puzzle.

It’s pretty clear cut now. We have to win at least two games and lose no more than two more games maximum. That is it.

Anything worse and we’ll be finished, anything better and we will survive.

Probably just as pointless as the scores and prediction threads before each game which are based more on hope than reality and then we get a result like yesterday.

At least the table is built on a method and there are no assumptions that anyone is going to win/lose their remaining games - it is based on others doing what they have been doing over the season so far. Not perfect no doubt.

Not really. There are so many permutations that's it's mathematically possible to win every game and still go down, or lose every game and still stay up! Other results are just as important as ours, we just have to do better than Yeovil and Macc.

That’s right. It’s based on actual data, and form over the season to date so is a pretty good indicator as to what will happen especially after 40 games. So it takes into account probability and likelihood.

Let’s look back at this at the end of the season and I’m quite certain your table will not be far wide of the mark at all. All I’ve done is take your data and put it into my prediction lists to show what needs to happen in games to meet the requirements.

We seem to be very good at shooting ourselves in the foot which merely keeps us in the mix. I've revamped the layout slightly so the current form since the new NA team can be seen as well as what's required. A win would have put us in control.

Date Games Left Requirement Pts/Game Target Form this table
    31/01/19 17 47 1.53 Morecambe
    02/02/19 16 47 1.56 Morecambe 1.00
    12/02/19 15 46 1.40 Morecambe 2.00
    16/02/19 14 44 1.14 Yeovil 2.33
    19/02/19 13 44 1.23 Yeovil 1.75
    23/02/19 12 47 1.58 Port Vale 1.40
    02/03/19 11 47 1.64 Port Vale 1.33
    09/03/19 10 48 1.90 Yeovil 1.14
    12/03/19 9 47 1.67 Yeovil 1.38
    16/03/19 8 46 1.63 Yeovil 1.33
    16/03/19 7 45 1.71 Yeovil 1.20
    30/03/19 6 44 1.33 Yeovil 1.36
    06/04/19 5 44 1.40 Yeovil 1.33
Note: Points required -= 3rd from bottom rounded up + 1 for gd +1 for safety
