The ball went straight through the centre of the keepers hands all he had to do was flip it over the bar

He was obstructed but terrible goalkeeping. I played in goal and would have been devastated to let that one slip through my hands

I played in goal too and coached goalkeeping... he couldn't see the ball as the arm went across his face... we need to cut him some slack... he made a slight mistake, but the ref phucked up big time.

Dubravka is mint. Aye, he's made a couple of mistakes but he's our number 1 'keeper for a good reason.

It does seem that the standard of refereeing in the Prem has deteriorated year on year particularly to the detriment of the lower teams but in favour of the official's darlings at the top of the table.

Even the protests and complaints of the top teams get sympathy from the officials both on and off the pitch. Something seriously needs to be done to make this a level playing field.

The worse it gets though, the more the FA dig their heels in and say its fine and back up the refs decisions regardless of what everybody else can see.

Rugby Union is the perfect example of how VAR should work. The game is as fast as football and the interruptions are appreciated by the crowd who enjoy the spectacle and cheer the decisions. No one can argue with the out come as they are clear, obvious and honest.

I don't think the referees will be 'found out' per say as mentioned about. It's more a case that you have men in their 40s & 50s who are slower than the game is now played at. If you run your legs off chasing the pace of the prem at that age your heart rate is up, you are hyper ventilating and your decision making is impaired.

Much the the special forces training - they put their recruits through hell to see how the react under pressure when exhausted and fatigued. Having a ref in the stands providing a 2nd pair of eyes to the ref on the pitch is great support. It doesn't detract from the game or diminish the man on the pitches' authority rather it reinforces it as they players can't get away with the 'unsportsmanlike behaviour' - in other words cheating to us normal honest human beings.

Dives, time wasting, fouls, off the ball incidents etc would all be resolved quickly & yes each decision should be displayed on the big screens to show the crowd exactly what happened and why the decision was made. Also this would shame players into acting in a more gentlemanly manner - something which footballers are seldom accused of.

They brought in the shaving foam to mark 10 yrds for free kicks and it has been a great success. VAR done the right way will also improve the game, that I don't doubt.

What I would also like to see is pay-related-fines. If a player is on £200k a week then they should be fined £400k for cheating.

With punishments matching the players salary you would soon see a dramatic change in the way the game is played.

Will it happen? Not likely - Much like the criminality surrounding player Agents, fees, dodgy dealings etc. These issues won't go away but as more money is pumped into the sport as US media companies like Amazon Prime, Google's whatever & Netflix start to eye live sporting events these issues will simple be more exasperated than see any resolution.
