Sad loss. I remember looking forward to seeing him at Notts when we were playing Stoke, but he had that car accident which blinded him in 1 eye and I never saw him. RIP.
Thanks Gordon, England world cup winner and great English goalkeeper

An absolute hero and a gentleman.
The "Cat" has used all his lives up.
Memories of course from '66. Highly respected by Pele for "that save". Nice that he had a statue erected whilst still alive and a nice tribute at the time in:

Pele still remembers the save 38 years on.
"From the moment I headed it, I was sure it had gone in," he said.
"After I headed the ball, I had already began to jump to celebrate the goal. Then I looked back and I couldn't believe it hadn't gone in. I have scored more than a thousand goals in my life and the thing people always talk to me about is the one I didn't score."
R I P Gordon, Thanks for the Great
Memories.
RIP GB always came across as a top bloke...and what a save that was 😒
I remember going to the 'temple of doom' just so I could say "I have seen the Great Gordon Banks"
RIP Legend.
Not wanting to start another thread but whilst we are on the subject of players's passing on, I would like to mention Ian Ross.
Maybe our older supporters will remember him. He played for us on loan in 1976, he played 4 games and scored 1 goal.
He passed away yesterday at the age of 72. RIP.
He used to come to many Notts night games back in the early and mid sixties. Along with Graham Cross and Mike Stringfellow and Davy Gibson. They used to sit in the Meadow Lane stand and we would pester them for an autograph without much luck.
What a great keeper though.
