    Phillips
    Harper
    Barry or Field
    Brunt or Montero

    J Rod

I’m not fixated on personnel though.

We need one defender who can step up 10-20 yards and carry the ball at times.

We also need J Rod and Gayle between the width of the goalposts and not out wide most of the time with J Rod dropping into the number ten roll behind Gayle if necessary.

4-3-3 with present personnel with J Rod and Gayle wide is a nonsense.
Coaches try to make a simple game difficult,4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 is by far the most stable way to operate in a team lacking legs and ball carriers at the back and in midfield.
Bin saying it (442) all season Mick.

This squad is made for it. I remember running a Sunday side around the time Megson played 352. Our (Sunday) side had an abundance of good centre halves and pacey/quality full backs, it decided it for me by watching the Albion. On the back of changing to 352 we had a decent team. The Albion need to change in my opinion, Gayle HAS to be down the centre, he’s the nearest we’ve had to a Kevin Phillips type poacher for years. I believe with a four man midfield we’d stay in the game longer by conceding less, but still have the quality to score up the other end.

4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 fills all dimensions of the pitch and allows flexibility.

You need world class athletes and top notch players to play three at the back,we have neither.

Most people know this, even schoolboys will tell you the same. So why can't someone with coaching badges see it?

Remember the old Monty Python sketch?

Darren Moore, Darren Moore, dum dum dum dum dum.
Darren dum, dum dum Moore, dum dum dum.
He gets the centre forward, and brings him off the pitch, stupid bitch.

Probably 55’, because it’s not ‘en vogue’ anymore. 442 when played with the right players can make the most basic of teams more solid, also its flexible enough to provide a strong attacking threat, particularly with dynamic full backs (which we have) as a pose to static defensive minded ones.

A very good point Minn regarding our fullbacks.

When we had Brunt and Dawson in those positions the attacking threat was blunted but with Holgate and Gibbs being so quick it’s the ideal formation.

Your not as stupid as people say you look Minn :-))
