The above quiz is getting "scarily accurate" results about where people live based on dialect.

I'm just interested if it is the same for us?

All my friends got Oxford and the southern counties. My mum and sister also got that. My dad got Lincolnshire which is where he is from.

I'm from Oxford as most of you know but my dialect is closest to Leed/Scarborough and bizarrely the Isle of Douglas.

Even weirder, when my Mother in law did a DNA test for family history i had loads of marker for there.

Anyway, where does everybody come from dialect wise?

Just did it I got between Middlesbrough & Newcastle, Not far off Im from Billingham.

I got from newcastle - which is 100% correct

you could tell the questions that were most likely to distinguish between regions

such as the pronunciation of A as bath etc

Oh totally, i could of got myself in Newcastle if i'd wanted.

That´s true - you can figure out what to answer to prove you´re from anywhere that speaks english. Baby or bairn?

i actually used both for my son, plus - kid, kidda, sprog, babe and babba

It pinned me down too. My friend who was born in Rochdale but brought up in Zim and South Africa, returned to Lancs about 30 years ago and has lived in Surrey last 10 years with still a cultured South African accent was nailed on as south coast England.
