Is Doyle under contract next season? I have not seen anywhere how long his contract was for.

    Yes 18 month contract

Those to seriously negotiate perhaps are: Tootle, Jones, Kellet and Patching.

That's showing Doyle as only having a contract until end of this season? Also no Dennis on that list? Good news is looking at that is that NA can offload an awful lot of dross by the end of June!

Dennis is contracted 2020, probably will be an asset next season if the team play to his strengths, perhaps he would have netted the one Hemmings missed late on..(IMO). Doyle, I am speculating, may have an extension agreement if we stay up..?Name: dennis.JPG

People often look at players we currently have and think, it's a good idea to keep them, but there's an opportunity cost in doing that. You have to ask, would NA be able to get someone better for the same money? I think January showed us that's a fair gamble.

Stead, for example, has been spared the axe for years running. He'll be 36 next year. Can we get a better centre forward? I would say we can. Then there's Milsom. In fairness, he's doing a good job at left back right now, but he's 32. Wouldn't we be better with a younger specialist left back if we are building for the future? Alessandra gets a few votes for keeping, but what has he actually done for us? He didn't stop Hartlepool going down and hasn't stopped us either, we've brought others in to do that job. Hewitt, I'm not even going there but do people seriously think there's no-one better out there?

I agree with this. Ardley has proven himself capable of getting quality players in who can really make a difference. I'd rather he brought in his own players at the expense of some of our current lot, even if it means shaking things up a bit. The new additions have shown that the whole 'needing time to gel' thing is a poor excuse for bad recruitment. I'd say keeping Tootle would make sense if he can prove his fitness, and maybe Allesandra as a squad player, but I think this has to be Stead's last season. If Patching, Kellet, and Dennis haven't made an impact this season, I don't see why they will next season.

32 isn't old by today's standards, if you are fit and good enough. Would you get rid of O'Brien and Doyle then if you are building for the future?

No I wouldn't, obviously. If experience is needed anywhere, then it is in midfield. But I think long term, we can do better than Milsom at left back. If you had all the left backs in League 2 to choose from, would you pick him? Because that's what resigning an out of contract player means, it's like choosing a new signing.

Not sure who is in or out of contract by the end of the season, but I would only keep Enzio and Alessandra out of the 'old crop' of players. Everyone else can go and hopefully we can keep the likes of Rose, Doyle, O'Brien and co. Just wonder if the young Prem and Championship boys will come back on loan deals? Hope so. Altough Ardley seems to have a knack of signing good players so I'm not too worried yet. Also think we'll secure Mackail-Smith if we stay up as he's unlikely to get a game at Wycombe by the looks of things.
