    Could we play a 3-5-3

Thinking about the new signings and wondered how to fit them in.... could we get them to play a 3-5-3?

    Roos

    Keogh Ambrose Tomori

    Bogle King Mount Wilson Cole

    Waghorn Marriott

    Been suggesting 3-5-3 for weeks Rich...or 3-4-1-2.
Apart from the lack of any sort of height upfront I think it’s a formation that suits the strengths of our squad.
Don’t know enough about Ambrose but the back three could equally be Keogh, Tomori, Malone or Wisdom, Keogh, Tomori. That apart that selection of yours is exactly what I’d like to see.

3-5-3 is eleven outfield players. Not to worry I know what you mean and your starting XI is the formation I would have too.

Holmes would be up for a starting shirt but as wing back could vie with Bogle.

We are not scoring enough goals and that's a concern.

Surely you mean 1-3-5-2 or you'll have MA on the moan

Surely all this talk about formation is barely relevant when half the team are performing so badly. We seem incapable of making the obvious pass other than backwards and incapable of travelling the 40 yards between the two ends of midfield with any sort of momentum. I watched most of the cup games this weekend and even the lower league representatives seemed to achieve better results in these areas than us. We are SO ponderous on the ball and that has to be a coaching thing.

In our last 2 games the opposition has put more men in MF and had them press and harry at every opportunity..... a bit like we did earleir this season. That forced us into making mistakes. I don't believe for one moment that players who were passing well 3 months ago have suddenly lost the ability to pass the ball. It is the opposition who are setting up differently and that is the cause of our current woes.

To get round this we need to do something different to the 1-4-3-3 we usually play. I like the fact that fans are looking at other formations.

Of the players mentioned, Ambrose isn't fit yet and we still don't have international clearance to play him. Mount hasn't recovered yet and, if the reports of Marriott's virus are to be believed and he lost 20 lbs then he won't be fit for 90 minutes yet and I haven't even taken the injury he got into account.

I am also doubtful about Bogle who has been off the boil for a few weeks now. Time for a rest?

I don't think Bogle has done anything wrong, just been hung out to dry by the midfield. All the responsibility is on the back 4 at the moment, the midfield needs to share it and take a few risks, and not get hounded when they do (ie Lawrence).

MA you are right about Bogle but most of his trouble is the coaching staff Every time the lad gets the ball they are yelling at him hold it ,hold it That's not the lads game he likes to take people on and d get forward He would make a very good right wing back imo

Sorry...meant 3-5-2...although eleven outfield players might be what we need.

Think it is relevant Andy...formations have to suit the personnel. We have an abundance of fullbacks who want to get forward...Cole, Malone, Bogle...and a midfield which is usually overrun because they’re too lightweight. In addition we’ve got two quick little guys upfront who either don’t get any service or, in Waghorn’s case, get wasted out wide.
3-5-2 might solve the problem by playing to our strengths...3-5-3 almost certainly would!

352 should be given a chance. Bogle likes to get forward as has been mentioned (so does Wisdom). Cole when he came on dragged our entire back line 10 yards further forward which we benefited from.

We are getting overran in midfield so a five would help. So long as advancing runs are covered by one of the back 3 stepping across the formation can work for us.
