Cannae mind if it's 16 or 17 homes games we have pre split but if 16 there's a good chance it will work like example above.

We will have played 17 home and in that scenario we would be required to take a third trip to either Hamilton, St Mirren or Livi.

Is there a rule to say you must play 18 home 18 away?

Everyone would get 19 home/away if the SPFL correctly predicted top/bottom six. Which has probably never happened

To be fair, by whatever means, most seasons have resulted in all teams having a balanced 19/19 seasons. It is only occasionally that things get out of synch requiring a team to have a 20/18 season balanced by another in the other half of the league ending up 18/20. We have benefited in a recent season with a 20/18 season and the SPFL have said that they will try to be as fair as possible in future and that any team having had the benefit will be the top of the list for an 18/20 season as and when required. With us due to have a post split of 2 home 3 away already, then we cannot be asked to end up with an 18/20 season this year as this would mean us having to end up with 1 home 4 away post split. That will not happen.

No I reckon impossible due to the likelihood that a bottom 6 team will end up with an 18/20 season and a top 6 team a 20/18 one the way the league is setting up. In any case with us having benefited in the past we would be behind other teams before getting another 20/18 season.

It should be more balanced now the top 6 almost picks itself. Although Hibs may have been placed to finish top 6 rather than Motherwell/fermers, for example. Dundee won't suffer, 2 home after the split as you say. Think the main issue is playing teams more than twice home/away
