I wonder what the stats are on reading these days in the digital age. Obviously Kindles have had bad effect on real books. I Am guilty but if i didnt work offshore I wouldnt have one. I read my kindle inside and real books outside when at work.
But i dont know many people who read these days. The amount of people who say to me, "i dinna have the patience" is staggering.
People do other stuff now in the spare time. Look at the amount of folk glued to their phone playing games or whatever next time you are on a plane or bus. Back in the day that would have been a book. The digital age of facebook and other terrible inventions have made modern society pretty much mongos. My dad retired early partly because kids were getting really thick(he was a teacher)
My favourite shop and the only shop i use in town is waterstones. People find that wierd
So maybe the council are cutting costs but it also maybe the case thats its enforced by lack of reading by the modern person.
Reading is a dying art. Sad state of affairs
My day today is kid free so it will be spent with a book in hand and copious cups of tea. My idea of a good day
