    1 Up 1 Down

1 up 1 down to the Premiership can be the only solution to the massive overspend int Championship.

Whilst ever there are 3 teams coming down into the Championship with the parachute money then football clubs will continue to be forced to overspend.

There cannot be any other way of controlling the stupidity of chairmen risking their money on their dreams which in the end only ends up putting our clubs at risk of going under.

Fix a date then at that date have no promotion or relegation at all from Premiership.

nice and easy idea, just like brexit

Wouldn't that merely encourage even more reckless behaviour as clubs splurged increasing amounts of cash they haven't got to try to ensure that they are the one?

Stopping parachute payments for clubs relegated from the Premier League wouldn't go amiss either.
I'm not aware of any other industries or services that reward businesses for failure. Only football could operate such a stupid system.

That would remove the play off factor and practically make a huge number of fixtures beyond november meaningless for the majority of clubs .

Wendy despite having a wretched season so far are still in touch with the play off places for instance .

With all due respect when was the last time the Millers were a comfortable second tier club ?

Even before the big bucks came in to the game Rotherham still struggled to maintain their second tier status .

Or don't hand the money to the club
It should be in the hands of an administrator who ensures it is only used for existing commitments/contracts and NOT for new transfers, wages etc
Money not used during the pre determined period returned to the PL or filtered down the football pyramid

Can’t see that happening Frogster, I for one don’t think it work and I wouldn’t want it to happen.

Agree something needs sorting though, capping players wages/fees would be a start, it’s ridiculous the amount of money that’s been placed on certain heads

What about banks, government departments, the Probation Service?

Mellow, this is a great point for having achieved Premiership status, clubs are awarded with an astonishing £100+ million pound pay out and surely this is enough to retain their status. Alas though, they invite all kinds of stupid contracts that demand they have to stay in the Prem.

Remove the parachute payments and Prem clubs would think twice about splashing out on mega bus contracts. In turn, this would create a knock on effect to the other league.

Richest Chairman from FA payments received and cash spent? Dean Hoyle (Huddersfield Town) who, will also receive an eye watering £60 million for relegation. Different worlds indeed.

You're thinking about this as a Barnsley fan and not the big picture. What happens if these Chinese that bought your club don't invest? Don't care about the community they have become owners of the club it represents? How can it survive?

How can your football club survive with such a big uneven playing field? How can it levelled out?

The play offs are great but why not have something that lasts a full season and the best team wins promotion.

A level playing field would be better where the overall costs of clubs are reduced.
