Poor turnout by all accounts, we had free tickets.
Late 60’s and early 70’s were great times musically
Apparently it wasn't advertised very well. Only what I've heard as before my time!!

Selecta (On my radio) were the support for the Specials, not those tedious purveyors of bland Brummie reggae UB40. Both were on the Two Tone label.

Wasn't at the T-Rex concert, but heard it from our house in Gilberthorpe Street. Remember the seeing the Specials and a gang of youths fighting in front of the stage.
Bazaarly, Dave Prouse(Darth Vader), was there as Green Cross Code Man.

‘Kin ‘el Graham, I lived on Badsley Street at that time, we probably knew each other long before we met later in life.

Back to the point, weren’t Matchbox on around the same time?

    Matchbox?

We’re they a rockabilly type band, or am I confusing them with somebody else?

They were indeed, Grist. I think Matchbox were on just before The Specials.... unless they headlined a 3rd Rotherham show? But I don't think so. I think it was Pretenders/UB40 first year and Specials/Matchbox the second and final year.

A great night! Unbelievable to think T Rex were in Clifton Park. I wouldn’t leave til I’d seen T Rex so got into lots of trouble for being late home. Must have been about 14 at the time.
