Reserves lost 3-0 to Falkirk.
Auld Chippy, - I would imagine you'd be spot on there!
is there anypoint putting a team into this reserve league ,as its obvious we arnt competing and dont look to have any up and coming superstars in there ,we have a thread bare first team squad ,its obvious to me that our board of directors are trying to run the club on the income generated by the gate money and arena and whatever else thats club income ,which is plainly obvious that isnt enough to fund a first team and reserve team without outside cash being pumped in ,i just dont see the point in it unless its producing (churning out) top young talent for the first team is that no what its all about ,cause i really canny see it in the reserve team ,i know its not about results but i still canny see much talent in there tbh .
RESERVES: Celtic and Rangers under-20s set to quit reserve league next season
Both sides are in agreement that the league provides an insufficient challenge
Chris McCart, Celtic's head of youth development, said: "We wanted to create a colts team in the lower leagues but that was knocked back. So now are are looking at other opportunities.
"It isn't just Celtic and Rangers, there are about half a dozen clubs looking at what is best for their young players. Some of them right now might not be good enough for the first team on a regular basis, but they have outgrown the under-20s.
Craig Mulholland, the Ibrox academy director, said: "We will announce in the next couple of weeks what we are going to do.
"I think the reserve league, going back in this year, while a lot of people have a romantic notion about what reserve football was years ago, if that was still reserve football then great.
"But you re not getting experienced players to come and teach young players. The variables in the competition were such that one week you were winning comfortably, the next week was a challenge. It is not right for developing our players.
