    Harkouk Interview

Barely mentions Notts but a decent read all the same... must admit he was one of my favourite players at Notts in his heyday

Harkouk’s comment on our recent game against Mansfield, from that article:

"There was one shot in the first half," he adds with incredulity. "I'd be pretty peed off if I didn't have at least half a dozen myself."

Oh I loved Rash, happy days. There aren't many reasons to be happy about getting on a bit, but I feel so lucky to have seen some fantastic Notts players, teams and managers. Our younger supporters missed so much.

I dare say he did mention Notts but the interviewer probably had little interest in that part of his story. One of my favourite players as well. Imagine having a luxury player who you didn't even need, but that's how good we were back then.

Didn't you name yourself after him on Rivals?

    Yes, I did indeed.

And the reason was ... in the 80s I worked at the Gas Board with a Bolton fan (let's call him Ramsbottom, I did) and he'd just seen his team lose 6-1 to Notts when Rash scored a hat trick. When he found out I was a Notts fan, he said, ooh, Rachid Harkouk, eh. So I connected being a Notts fan with Harkouk.
