Motherwell shine as Hamilton are thrashed

Motherwell brushed Hamilton aside with a blistering first half performance that delivered a 3-0 win. David Turnbull (2) and Jake Hastie got the goals but every player played their part in moving us up to seventh place in the table. - External Link

A very comfortable and satisfying derby victory. We blew Accies away by half time and the second half was not surprisingly an anti climax. Quite a few good performances today but Turnbull, Gorrin and Gromshaw really caught the eye. Ariyibi was very ricky and showed amazing skill but needs to produce more of an end product. Jake Hastie didn't have a bad game but maybe is not as mature as many think. He's still got a bit to learn, hopefully with us.

A combination of us being good and they being terrible in the first half but we took the foot off the gas a bit much in the second for my liking. Obviously no harm done - and I think had they scored we'd have upped our game again - but it's a sloppy habit to get into as it can be hard to regain the initiative from better teams.

Anyway, the bandwagon rumbles on to another 'must-win' next week although after recent experiences it's ridiculous using that phrase in the context of the top six.

Aye, we eased off just a bit too much for my liking too. A bit more ruthlessness was required. Great to see about 5,000 home fans in Fir Park yesterday. It shows what playing attractive football can do.
