More likely spot Lord Lucan than Ross McCormack

Motherwell's Ross McCormack has returned to parent club Aston Villa to have his calf problem assessed.
The on-loan striker has been sidelined with the injury for more than a month and travelled south late last week. It is believed the clubs plan for McCormack, 32, to finish his spell at Fir Park, depending on the outcome of tests.

Turned out perhaps a complete waste of time

Wonder if it was just bad luck with the timing of his injury or if he did something stupid trying to get fit too quickly. Or if he did something stupid because he wasn't trying to get fit.

If he's serious about kick-starting his career a few months rather than a rush to get fit won't make too much of a difference to him but it will fair cut down his options for next season. If offered him in summer would we take him again?

Total waste of money would have been better spending it on a package for Hastie or a future signing in the summer

Looks like we will just have to write this McCormack signing off as another terrible mistake by the manager.

Why on earth would we do that?

There was as near to universal agreement as Motherwell fans ever get at the time that no one had any idea how it would go but it was a punt worth taking.

Err - because it was yet another terrible mistakes in a long line of them and looked like a panic measure. Must have cost us a few bob that we could have used to attract another striker when the window opens again.

Easy in hindsight, it was not a view many had at the time. I can't remember any complaints on here in fact.

It was reported that McCormack approached us about the move, if that's true and given even a big contribution for us - which we definitely won't be paying - wouldn't make the slightest dent in his known Villa wages I'd seriously doubt it cost us anything significant at all.

Essentially it was a near free outside chance at getting a massive upgrade, the fact it didn't work out doesn't mean we weren't right to roll the dice.

Should have weighed him first. Was he signed un-seen and based simply upon reputation ?
