I'm regards to the racism then they should get kicked out the tournament in my opinion straight away. The only way it'll stop is if other fans and the players put pressure on the ones doing it and that won't happen with a game behind closed doors or a fine. Kick them out and say every time you are racist you'll be kicked out of whatever competition you were playing in at the time of the racism. This is the only way to really stop it and to make others aware of what will happen if they do the same.

It's abhorrent behaviour but what's to stop a bunch of England fans pretending to be Germany, Spain and French fans and visa versa and getting teams booted out of competition by doing racist behaviour? The best way would be to ban fans from games for a while (say 10 games) and a massive fine after the first incident so they can't make any money from it and also it stops them having fans, it will eventually lead them to cleaning up their act but I feel kicking teams out of competitions could lead to it being abused, unless of course the racist abuse is sanctioned by the FAs then boot them out of course

But the brain-dead knuckle-draggers who do this sort of chanting don't, or can't, think twice before they start. It's just an impulse they can't control. It really needs the clubs to identify the culprits and prosecute or at least ban them. Specialised closed circuit TV cameras will do the job but if the crowd points them out to the police while it happens the humiliation of getting dragged out with your arm shoved up your back and bunged into a cell will be an added deterrant to others.

I don't think you've thought this through, ChickBP. How could a bunch of one nation's fans pretend they belong to another? Are they all going to buy scarves or shirts of all nations? Do you think a group large enough to be noticed wouldn't be identified who they are by their accents when they started up or when they were chatting as they entered the ground? Perhaps they all learn the languages of Europe and become fluent? When, not if, one or two get arrested the police would immediately discover their nationality, find out which hotel they and their mates stayed at, report their identities to their own country's police and FA and kick them out.

From what I heard and what was reported, Montenegro fans were making monkey noises the black players. You don't need to know a different language to do that, that's is one of the reasons the rules don't kick clubs and nations out of completions very quickly, because it has been flagged as a possible issue. They need to be a lot more harsh on clubs and nations than they currently are but having teams banned from competition could lead to it becoming abused. Hence why I suggested a more suitable situation would be a lengthy ban of having fans in the stadium and a massive fine. If the FAs are hit in the pocket, they'll soon weed out the morons who think it's acceptable

Do you mean all fans are banned from the stadium? If you do this punishes the away supporters who are innocent of anything.

Yep, all fans. And yes it does impact away fans but it is more to impact the home FA financially. Hit them in the pocket and they'll soon root out the problem

Well I admit that technically other countries fans could pretend to be from that country although I'd hope proper ticketing and investigation after the event would sort it out as in where have they travelled from, passports, social media etc so I don't think that would be an issue. Sick of fines and matches behind closed doors, it's 2019 and it's still happening time and again especially in Eastern Europe when those punishments have been in place for years, they're not really working are they. A instant ban from the competition and you'd see it reduce dramatically.

I like he idea of the them having to play all the matches away for a full qualifying period. That will mean they lose lots of money through less tourism and have to pay a huge amount to travel to away games. That, plus picking out individuals and dishing out lifetime bans from that stadium.

Lots of ideas on how to tackle racist chanting, but the only fair way to do it is to punish the vermin who carry it out rather than a nation as a whole. I realise that it's a hugely difficult task, but cameras are everywhere these days so review the footage and pick out as many obvious culprits as possible. Name and shame them, put them through the courts and hit them with big fines and long banning orders.
I know it's not easy, but it might make a few of them think twice.
