    McInnes Leaves Aberdeen

    MCINNES LEAVES ABERDEEN

Aberdeen have announced that manager Derek McInnes has left the club by mutual consent.

In a short official club statement Aberdeen FC chairman stated that the departure was "deeply regrettable" and thanked McInnes for his "exemplary record of service to the club".

McInnes, 47 took over management of the club in 2014, winning the league cup in his first season and taking the Dons to four second place finishes between 2015 and 2018. But after a string of poor home results and a loss at Tynecastle on Saturday, the club is languishing 19 points behind first placed Celtic and 8 points behind second placed Rangers.

The club has given recent no reason for the dismissal but it is understood that growing fan unrest, particularly among vocal online groups, was a contributing factor.
