Indeed. We've basically shown in the last months that we're now one of the better - possibly best - of the bottom six but are still well below the level of the top six. There's no disgrace in losing to better teams but the way you lose in these games is not unimportant and Robinson should be tearing strips off them for that display.

Also, even if we are nominally better than Accies, St Mirren and Dundee, all three of them will beat us through sheer will alone in the coming weeks if we're as sloppy as that. It would be a real shame to end the season on a low given the positive steps taken since January.

We're not a great side and all in all it's been a poor season for us. However games against Rangers should never be used as a pointer as to how good it bad a Motherwell side is...and I don't mean that in the Happy Clappy's "they have greater resources so there's no shame losing to them" angle. For the best part of the last twenty years I've seen poor, decent and very good Motherwell sides capitulate against all standard of Rangers sides...it's as if there is something ingrained in the Motherwell FC psyche that causes us to fold like a pack of cards whenever we come up against them.

The result today would have been no different had we been sitting clear in third place having had a season filled with champagne football.

Motherwell do not beat Rangers in league matches anymore. Simple as that I'm afraid.
