Both url's quote the "Press and Journal", a local paper in the Aberdeen and Inverness area. IMO, they have taken a fact, Shimmie was at Derby, and run with it.

I give this 5 year contract idea as much credence as I did those in that local Cheltenham rag in the summer which claimed Thomas was off to West Ham or BHA or somewhere equally unlikely.

I was right then and I pretty certain to be right now.

One thing, if I am wrong on the length of any deal (if he comes at all), would it be so bad? He will be 28 going into next season. That would mean him going into his last season of the 5 aged 32. Provided he stays fit, not too old for a DM.

If he does come, as we have just given Hudds an extra year, will this mean the end of BJ?

Was just pointing out where MOP probably got the info from and I agree unless its in the DET or the DCFC official i'll take it with a pinch of salt, 5 years is too much for an already 28 year old who isn't certain to perform and who probably woudn't have a great sell on position if he failed, I'd rather we give some of our u18 and 23's 5 year deals and bring them through into the first team

Yes the same rag that said we had sold Thomas to West Ham for £10 million

....and he’s signed a 3 year deal with the Rams! Good bit of early transfer business sorted!

We don't seem to have a lot of luck signing injured players. Thorne and McAllister to name but two. I hope Shinnie is 100% for the new season and stays that way.

Isn’t it a bit unusual to sign a player before we’re certain which League we’ll be in? He may be a great signing for the Championship but it’s a big step up to the Prem.

Fair comment but i look at it this way, if we're in the prem then we could afford to just keep him or loan him back, stay in the championship then it looks a good signing, just hope he doesn't do his cruciate between now and June
