Great fire to who ?
After what's happened recently his heart might not be in it anymore, TBH I think his enthusiasm had already waned somewhat before that, he's certainly had a lower profile.
Maybe time to sell?
Has to be to the right person though.
Great fire to who ?
Maybe they did lack the quality needed but Ipswich still made the effort to retain championship football.
I think all Championship clubs have made the effort to retain their status. I think our efforts have been a bit more successful than those of Ipswich.
I understand people's frustrations that we had so little activity in the January window. I also hoped we'd make a couple of great signings to improve our squad. As pocket says - we don't know what efforts were made in that window, what money was available, who decided what.
We do know that the club is only operating on the back of money from Tony Stewart's company.
How much is that "little bit more " that would guarantee survival?
Can't win with you lads. We have socialists on here questioning every aspect of capitalism but when it comes to TS and RUFC it's all down on your knees, kiss rrse and the boss knows best. Pathetic but if it floats your boats good luck. Twice recently this club has reached the Championship and twice TS's corner shop mentality has screwed it. The only people winning here are the property company that owns NYS.
The top and bottom of it is Tony Stewart cannot finance Championship football. He will have got some of his investment back from TV money and be content to keep drawing the rent money from the football club, whatever division we're in. I certainly don't expect him to put much money into an attempt to get us straight back up should we go down. Quite depressing really.
A million spent in the Championship is basically ineffective but the same amount in league 1 can make a significant difference.
Many have been saying we should have splashed the cash in a striker but even if we landed one where would he play in Warne’s 4-5-1 system?
Even then assuming he netted a credited 1 goal every 3 games, we would still end up losing because we have the usual defensive lapses and concede daft goals.
There is a couple of issues I have with TS
1st is the learning from mistakes 2 seasons ago we dropped because our lack of attacking options. Fast forward to present day we went from January until a few weeks ago with just Yates and smith.
2nd his so called revolving door this too is a contradiction since a chunk of our players will be out of contract they will have to be players coming in, oh wait this is TS so maybe he will ask his gran kids to play.
3rd is his and I quote “we don’t exactly have a set budget” (translation: I’m not spending money) we need a budget a rolling budget maybe, because this value for money approach isn’t working. A lot of clubs if they don’t spend what they are given one year it will roll over to the next for when they need it.
We need TS to show ambition again because right now he comes across like he’s given up on the club
Eh! Did someone say something
Just looked at the table and again not sure if another forward/goalscorer was the panacea we needed. We have scored more goals than all our rivals in the bottom 6 and we've even scored more than Middlesbrough who look likely to be in the playoffs.
