    O/T FAO Norton

Watcha mate! Whereabouts in Sicily are you? Back in the seventies I spent 5 weeks in Sicily in a port city called Gela. Not the greatest place, I was working at a refinery, but what with the food, wine and all the history, incredible. All on an expense account as well, those were the days!

Hi Woody, We’re travelling around, doing three stopovers over a week as a taster, not been before. Flew into Palermo, made our way to Cefalu for a few nights, on to Taormina and today heading back to Palermo for two days. Absolutely loving it, relatively quiet in both resorts as it’s early season , lots of history, great food. I feel like I could happily spend several months here doing the mountain towns and villages and around the coast, you were lucky to work here!

Glad you're having a good time mate. Make sure you give the sea food a hammering! When I was here I took the train each weekend on day trips to visit local hill top town/villages. Very quiet in those days, very special.

Enjoy the rest of your vacation.

    Hi Norton,

We were there approx 3 years ago. We did 2 cities (Taormina and Syracuse). Thoroughly enjoyed both the area / sites and the food. We would certainly go back. We climbed Etna (or part of it) - certainly wouldn't do that again - GRUELLING !!

We didn't do the Etna trip as we only had two days in Taormina, Syracuse sounds good too... must go back!
