    It's not worth it.

Allowing control by a manager who has no affiliation with the club can be recipe for disaster in terms of financial dictation for players.
Managers come and go, no matter how much they're placed on a pedestal and idolised. No club should even be in a situation where a manager has overall control.
In our case unfortunately we have an owner and his lapdog subordinate who ought not to be in full control.

Of all the top officials at our club the manager is the only one who has any inkling about the game.

If Rafa had a seat on the board instead of Ashley and Charnley then we might have a chance of getting somewhere.

I've worked at a few places, pits, shipyards,Merchant Navy and factories. The owners and directors always left the running of the business to the skilled workforce under the manager.

At my last place of work for instance the chairman and leading shareholder was an accountant as lot of men in his position are.He wouldn't dream of interfering with the managers of his five factories.

Major financial decisions were put to the board of course and they made the final decision but the plans were put forward by the manager just as Rafa has done to Ashley.

If Ashley and Charnley think they know better then they are unprofessional and should not be in the job.

No club should hand control to a manager.
That's not the point he is making. He is saying that Rafa's demands are unreasonable. Every manager has (and should have!) requirements and ambitions.
