    WARNING BT (Classical Music Thread)

Classic FM are playing the top 300 pieces of classical music, as voted by the public, this weekend.

The number one will be played on Easter Monday evening.

I would choose Beethoven Piano Concerto number 5 (The Emperor), or his 7th symphony.

Last year Tchaikovsky knocked Vaughan Williams (The Lark Ascending) off the top perch with his 1812 overture.

Rachmaninoff is usually up there as well.

    Which is your favorite piece?

Sorry BT, I remember you throwing a wobbly last year when I posted this subject!

Pictures at an Exhibition by Emerson, Lake and Palmer, can't beat a bit of Mussorgsky. Actually the bit I like is, I think, called the Great Gates of Kiev.

BT, not everyone who likes classical music is a pretentious middle class snob.

I enjoy all kinds of music (except country and rap).

Last Night of the Proms in Clitheroe Castle grounds, cracking night, warm August sun sinking in the west over the Fylde coast, more bottles of bubbly in ice buckets than you can shake a ****ty stick at, picnics on the grass, wonderful music, I wouldn't miss it for the world. I'd suggest you come over and give it a go BT, but there's no point, they don't allow riff raff in.

I'd rather chew my own thumb off without anaesthetic than spend time with the middle class Tory elite quaffing Champagne and reminding everyone just how precious and precocious they can be.

If you show some patience BT and are prepared to wait, you can pick up some real bargains in the Majestic sales. Veuve Clicquot Reserve and any Pol Roger, 33% off, perfect for a barby in the garden on warm nights like last night. And of course much cheaper than quaffing it in the Champagne and Seafood Bar on Ripon Racecourse, where they rip you off on price, and you just have to hope the bookies are paying for it. Fortunately they usually are.

Just a working class lad made good sinkov. The entrepreneurial spirit does not make you middle class. I've given away much more than I've kept and I'm still only a bit behind you!

Caught bang to rights BT, a brand new BMW M5, the car of choice for pretentious, middle class snobs the world over. But I'm not criticising, far from it, you do right mon ami, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, I'm just delighting in the irony.
