This could also have benefits for the town. I don't know but maybe a volunteer run supporters club bar, that sort of thing. If people don't have spare money they might have spare time or skills to donate to generate money.

Yes, voicing those ideas when I argued against Tony Stewart taking over got me a great deal of aggro on MM and elsewhere. The paternalistic model of football ownership where a club relies on the whim of wealthy individual(s) is too deeply ingrained in the psyche of UK supporters. In the case of RUFC a fan-based solution is a non-starter due to a number of factors - separation of ground ownership, unhelpful attitude of RMBC, lack of a nucleus of well off business/professional supporters etc. You have yourself pointed to the irony that some of the most enthusiastic adherents of the TS dictatorship are our own MM socialists.
