Just back from the game.
Positives first, Brentford are a great example of a club linked to the community. Still have standing at one end and make a lot of noise. Their reserves/youth set up had won a trophy and paraded at half time and the announcer called out an amazing stat. In the last 5 seasons 13 players have progressed from that set up to play for the first team. Great to see a club create, cherish and promote from within its own ranks.
the less good..
Where to begin.
Bamford - simply not good enough and not a proper centre forward - seems unwilling to challenge for the 50 50s and put his head where it hurts. Had chances and not good enough to take them. How the frig he started before Roofe ....
Roberts - one on one with the keeper looked scared and pulled it wide. he is big lad but again lost the ball so often.
Ayling was pants - time and again runs then just stops and loooks frozen.
Other teams have worked out if you give us the ball and sit back we struggle to score. There was no one with the wit or invention to unlock the door. Second is well and truly gone and can only hope other teams are as timid as we have become.
there was no one willing to take responsibility (bar Dallas who played fairly well in a poor team) - where was the leadership - the players stepping forward to say I will make the difference.
was in the Brentford end close to where the Leeds players warmed up and Clarke looked short on confidence warming up and to throw him on when he is clearly not right wasn’t great. Don’t understand why Phillips didn’t start or what Shackleton has to do to play.
The Keeps, Foreshaw, Cooper and Dallas played okay the rest looked broken.
Where the way way we played against the Wendies or the Baggies disappeared to god only knows.
They should pull a Saracens and take the team away for a week to bond - automatic is now beyond a pipe dream
