Wow.
Well I've now wept over Notts twice today...Jeez!
I'll not print the poem out till we're relegated - if indeed we are - then I might ask if I can use it in a theatre show I'm reviving in Reading called 'The Final Whistle'...
There’s room on the bench side of Jimmy,
To leave my heart, my scarf, and my dreams.
There’s room on the bench side of Jimmy,
For the memories of my football team.
There’s room on the bench side of Jimmy,
But it will never be the same,
For the sun has stopped shining upon us
Down at Meadow Lane.
I was here long before Jimmy,
And I am here long after he’s gone,
But perhaps it’s better, that he’s not here,
than to witness this - our final swansong.
So I’ll blindfold his eyes with my black and white scarf
this is something I don’t want him to see,
that Notts County, down by the old River Trent,
are now just a old chaps, distant, memory.
Wow.

Very good Feeb. Might well pinch that !!!
Jimmy was our manager
The greatest of them all
He must be turning in his grave
To see Notts in freefall
Sadly he's not with us
But he will never be forgot
I only wish he could return
To sack the bloody lot
Jimmy was our manager,
He now resides in Heaven.
These idle shirkers in our squad.
Wunt make his 1st eleven.
He'd kick them up their r-soles.
And tell them to man up.
He wouldn't trust these 4kers,
To play in the Tin Pot cup.
I'll throw something into the mix here. In the 79-80 season we were second top of the league in October. We won 4 of our last 18 games and finished 17th. How many would be calling for Jimmy's head these days? He then had the sense to bring Wilkinson in and we won promotion the next season. Never under estimate Wilkinson's contribution, we wouldn't have done it with Jimmy alone.
I don’t see anyone disputing Sergeant Wilko’s contribution. Sir Jimmy however had become a Notts legend way before the 80/81 season. Following years of dross, he transformed the club in the early 70’s with two promotions in three years. To us old pies it is the players from that time who embody the spirit of the club.
Barry Watling, Roy Brown, Bill Brindley, David Needham, Brian Stubbs, Bob Worthington, Mick Jones, Don Masson, Willie Carlin, Arthur Mann, Jon Nixon, Richie Barker, Les Bradd, Tony Hateley, Kevin Randall, Charlie Crickmore, Steve Carter.
You are Oh so wrong, you no absolutely nothing about me, and I can see that you that by the fact you show no to your elders you are indeed a very distasteful person to put it mildly, as many others have pointed out on this board.
Why don't you go and do something useful, like conducting Lightning.
