I'll throw something into the mix here. In the 79-80 season we were second top of the league in October. We won 4 of our last 18 games and finished 17th. How many would be calling for Jimmy's head these days? He then had the sense to bring Wilkinson in and we won promotion the next season. Never under estimate Wilkinson's contribution, we wouldn't have done it with Jimmy alone.Originally Posted by countygump

I don’t see anyone disputing Sergeant Wilko’s contribution. Sir Jimmy however had become a Notts legend way before the 80/81 season. Following years of dross, he transformed the club in the early 70’s with two promotions in three years. To us old pies it is the players from that time who embody the spirit of the club.
Barry Watling, Roy Brown, Bill Brindley, David Needham, Brian Stubbs, Bob Worthington, Mick Jones, Don Masson, Willie Carlin, Arthur Mann, Jon Nixon, Richie Barker, Les Bradd, Tony Hateley, Kevin Randall, Charlie Crickmore, Steve Carter.

You are Oh so wrong, you no absolutely nothing about me, and I can see that you that by the fact you show no to your elders you are indeed a very distasteful person to put it mildly, as many others have pointed out on this board.
