They're so far removed from our reality that that bond that used to exist-because they were just, basically, one of us-has been eroded to the point where it barely even exists any more. For example, Diame. Yesterday Steve Howey was talking about how Diame wants security for him and his family with a 2 year deal instead of a one year one and, while obviously you want the best for your family and to get the most you can while you can, what he earns in one year would set most of the rest of us up for life. Most of our first-teamers will get in a year what most of us wouldn't even be able to earn in a lifetime of MUCH harder work and that leads to folk expecting more from players/teams/managers, even if subconsciously, because of the huge numbers involved.

    Don't see it changing, either.
This is why we all end up arguing the toss, because there's a bridge between older fans and younger one's.
We begrudgingly accept what's happening but the younger fans embrace it because it's a different scene.

It's a Justin Bieber scenario with many clubs in the top flight with otehr clubs busting a gut to get there to follow the trend, only to be cast off to the scrap heap when it does eventually fail in short order. It gets called AMBITION.

You would think Mike thinks you get extra league points for saving money.

That's actually a really interesting point. As each 'generation' of fans comes through, the stuff that we complain about now will be their 'norm' and will become 'well, that's just the way it is'.

    Aye.

When my son grows up to be able to appreciate football properly i suspect VAR will be a key part of it and he'll be astounded that it use to be such a controversial thing.
