    Notts County

    The gods of football are not sentimental.
    Notts Co. - founder members of the Football League, officially the world's oldest club, and favourites for promotion at the start of this season - relegated to the National League. It doesn't seem that long since they were in the equivalent of the PL.
    It must send a shiver down the spine of fans everywhere.

    I would be inclined to and tend to look at it this way;
    They are simply ‘settling back’ into the kind of ethos from which they emerged.
    I recall going on their ground many many decades ago and they were a far cry from their over the river near neighbours!
    Quite a few of whom (screaming arrogance and flaunting their ‘status’ caveman fashion) were gatecrashing the game.
    We had a few pints with some of the County supporters who were very much of the shrug of the shoulder ‘what will be will be.

    They are now a little more distanced from the circus that is top flight football.
    Not such a bad thing.

    I heard that they've had 36 managers since 1991 (was it?) when they were in the top flight.
